Iggy Pop

He’s approaching 78, but in his mind he’s still the youngest of them all. Iggy Pop, born James Osterberg Jr., was one of the original punks back in the sixties with The Stooges. Almost sixty years later, he’s still showing the youngsters how it’s done. He’s an enigmatic, provocative presence on stage, and he shows no signs of stopping though he’s long earned his place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well as a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Why? Why not? He’s got the songs (‘China Girl’, ‘Lust for Life’, ‘The Passenger’, ‘Candy’, ‘Real Wild Child’) and the body for it. As his peers fill retirement homes en masse, Iggy Pop has embraced his status as living legend. Interesting fact: Iggy’s first appearance at Werchter was in 1987, when he was ‘already’ 40.
