Purple Disco Machine

Purple Disco Machine is the stage name of Tino Schmidt. Purple is a tribute to his hero, Prince. Disco Machine comes from the Miami Sound Machine that launched Cuban-American singer Gloria Estefan to fame in the 1990s. Schmidt was raised in the former East Germany on Genesis and Queen records. After the Wall fell, he discovered house music. His big breakthrough happened many years later with the single ‘Hypnotized’ (2020), which led to remix requests from artists as varied as Elton John, Dua Lipa, Kylie Minogue and The Rolling Stones. In 2023, he won the Grammy Award in the category Best Remixed Recording for his interpretation of Lizzo’s ‘About Damn Time’. An equally great honour that year for the forty-something was being recorded in the golden book of his home city of Dresden, where he lives to this day.
