Simple Minds
Simple Minds will always have a place on the Rock Werchter lineup. The Scots have experienced and celebrated all the major milestones in their nearly 50-year career there: their first encounter with the Belgian audience (1982), their big breakthrough (1983), their promotion to headliner status (1986), and their triumphant return (2012). Since then, the band, led by Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill, has been living a dream scenario. “We’re blowing the roof off everywhere in the world today,” Kerr says in the documentary Everything is Possible (2023). The documentary highlights the diversity of their catalog: the danceable new wave (I Travel, Love Song), the anthems (Promised You a Miracle, Alive and Kicking), their political phase (Belfast Child, Mandela Day), and the award-winning classic Don’t You (Forget About Me).
