Alexandra Ashley Hughes is as much a visual artist as she is a musician. The Canadian constantly slaloms between the avant-garde and the mainstream. She is a classically trained pianist who started her career in show business as a songwriter for others (BTS, Leland, Troye Sivan). However, the muse tugged at her sleeve so hard that she eventually succumbed. Her first steps as Allie X proved a big success. She delivers her ethereal goth pop with a healthy dose of theatricality. What you see is just as important as what you hear. No wonder she counts Björk and Kate Bush among her sources of inspiration. Although Allie X is often labelled as a cult artist, she is invited to tour with popular phenomena such as Charli XCX and Dua Lipa. She’s also a fervent advocate for women's rights and a beacon for the LGBTQ community.
