Bright Eyes

Conor Oberst is a key figure in the American indie rock scene. Now in his forties, he’s founded two record labels and created a dozen groups. Including Monsters of Folk and Better Oblivion Community Center (with Phoebe Bridgers). But his greatest creation is undoubtedly Bright Eyes, the ultimate showcase of his raw talent and the project from which he’s fired off some of his most iconic songs. Take 'First day of my life' (2005), one of the most beautiful declarations of love ever set to music. "Yours is the first face that I saw. I think I was blind before I met you." Oberst has often hinted at calling it quits with Bright Eyes, but their latest release, 'Five dice, all threes' (2024) sounds as if the past 30 years were just the warm-up.
