The Republic of India is a gigantic country. Pop music is made there. So, logically speaking, sooner or later something had to come out of that corner of the world that would find an audience here. Peter Cat Recording Co. seems to be able to fill that gap - finally. The quintet comes from the capital Delhi and is the brainchild of Suryakant Sawhney. The musical mix is daring and original. The group travels through time and the world. Cabaret from the early 20th century, jazz, soul from the sixties, space disco and indie rock. So cosmopolitan that everyone can feel a connection and just as adventurous as contemporaries Hermanos Gutiérrez and Krhuangbin. The western-sounding name comes from the restaurant Peter Cat in the Indian city of Calcutta and from Sawnhey's desire to be a businessman as well as a musician.
