The Backseat Lovers
Hop in the car, leave everything behind and just drive, drive, drive... That’s the sound of The Backseat Lovers. Singer Joshua Harmon and guitarist Jonas Swanson met at an open stage event near Salt Lake City, the capital of Utah, the American state renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty and large Mormon community. The new friends created an indie rock group and went on to win a key local talent contest with ‘Kilby Girl’, becoming the darling of the alternative radio stations. In 2019, that song spent five weeks at the top of the American Spotify lists and landed them a major record contract. They recorded ‘Waiting to Spill’ (2022) with none other than David Greenbaum (Beck, Gorillaz, U2). And, by the way, their answer to the question they get asked most frequently is, for now, ‘no’. No, they are not religious.
