Underworld
Underworld’s album ‘dubnobasswithmyheadman’ (1994) made history by drawing the rock crowd to the dance floor. Shortly afterwards, the banger ‘Born Slippy’ broke Underworld out and installed them as one of the most important electronic acts ever. DJ and producer Darren Emerson dropped out after a while, but Karl Hyde and Rick Smith kept storming ahead, finding new boundaries to explore and genres to transcend. On ‘Strawberry Hotel’ (2024), their eleventh album and the first in five years, they are “as good and vital as ever” according to the British press. An interesting addition is the contribution of opera singer Esme Bronwen-Smith, daughter of Rick Smith, to the song ‘Ottavia’. Underworld concerts are a feast for the senses and limbs. 100% natural euphoria. This will be their seventh visit to Werchter.
