Jacob Collier
The Mozart of Gen Z; Jacob Collier is a marvel. The late Quincy Jones, the brain behind Michael Jackson, had a lot to say. “I’ve never seen such talent. An absolute genius.” It must be partly genetic. Collier’s mother and grandmother travelled the world as star violinists. Starting with classical at a young age, Jacob Collier quickly embraced the entire history of music. The Londoner recorded an album in the music room at home at the age of 22 that immediately won him a Grammy Award. Since then he’s released the album series ‘Djesse’ in the space of just five years. Each of the four parts represents a quarter of a day. It’s a huge musical feast involving drumming bands, choirs and orchestras, and he manages to translate this flawlessly to a live audience. A Collier concert is a collective celebration where the audience plays the role of a Greek Chorus.
