Ezra Collective
The current British jazz renaissance is one of the most significant developments in modern music. The past ten years have seen a wealth of new names emerge. Ezra Collective is the glittering jewel of that great family tree. The five-piece London band around drummer Femi Koleoso saw its second album ‘Where I’m meant to be’ awarded a prestigious Mercury Prize in 2023 as the best record of the year. It was the first time in the thirty-year history of the prize that a jazz album had won. Ezra Collective was subsequently lauded as one of the most promising acts for the future by a panel of experts. And they already have one famous fan: Barack Obama ranked the super-infectious swinger ‘God Gave Me Feet for Dancing’ among his 25 best songs of 2024.
