Thee Sacred Souls

The new stars of Daptone Records, an independent record label from New York known for its warm retro vibes. They’ve previously brought the funk and soul of Charles Bradley, the Daptone Super Soul Revue and Jalen Ngonda to Werchter. Thee Sacred Souls blend sixties soul with seventies R&B, while the California heat and the Latin roots of bassist Dal Samona and drummer Alex Garcia also come into play. The two ran an instrumental oldies band, until Josh Lane and his velvet falsetto came into the picture, bringing his love for Marvin Gaye and Al Green. The chemistry is undeniable, and it all falls into place. Thee Sacred Souls present themselves as a worthy heirs to their major influence: Thee Midniters, the group that shaped Chicano soul in the sixties.
