Bolis Pupul
Bolis Pupul is the stage name of Boris Zeebroek, the son of a Belgian father and a Chinese mother. He grew up surrounded by the instruments that his dad, the cartoonist Kamagurka, intentionally left lying about. In 2016 Stephen and David Dewaele (Soulwax) worked with Boris for the soundtrack of ‘Belgica’, a film about the Ghent nightlife. The brothers saw in him a potential kindred spirit with singer Charlotte Adigéry, and thus, a magical match was made. ‘Topical Dancer’ (2022) by Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul became an international sensation and brought them that year to Rock Werchter. Zeebroek then embarked on a musical journey to Hong Kong where his late mother Yu Wei Wun was from. ‘Letter to Yu’ (2024) is an alchemical union of Eastern roots, Western beats and the great themes of life.
