The Scratch

In the beginning there was Red Enemy, a metal band from Dublin. “Just for fun, shall we try mixing traditional folk music with those heavy guitars?” was the question, once upon a drunken night. The Scratch was born. As a warm-up, the foursome went busking in 2017 at the annual tribute festival for the Irish guitar god Rory Gallagher in Ballyshannon. The video of that trip raked in 1 million views on YouTube within a week. That’s when fun got serious. The Scratch profiles itself today as an acoustic metal band that sounds like “a pint of Guinness”. According to the experts, you have to see the group live to fully understand it. That experience consists of a crazy bass guitarist, two rockers with acoustic guitars and a drummer who limits himself to a hand drum and percussion.
